My point and shoot camera picks up IR!

This weekend, I received a Digi-Key shipment of Osram SFH-485s, a 24VDC power supply, and some resistors. I spent maybe 6 hours planning, sanding/cutting, taping, x-actoing, hot gluing, crimping, and soldering, and the frame came out great!

Next time, I would use connectors that require less force to (1) install and (2) connect. The crimp-on “quick” disconnects are no such thing!

I look forward to receiving a modified Sony PS3 Eye from http://peauproductions.com/store/ with an IR bandpass filter sometime this week, and trying out the setup.

Tried http://reactivision.sourceforge.net/ and http://nuicode.com/projects/tbeta but will have to wait for additional hardware before I can get reasonable image quality and tracking.

The multitouch table is no longer in the scope of my class’s overarching project, so my work on it will go on hold for a while. Likely, sometime around mid-July, I’ll be able to pick up work again, after graduating, traveling, and getting settled at my new job in Boston. Hooray!
